Major operation in the morning – 16 injured in house fire in Salzburg

A fire broke out in the basement of a residential building on Paris-Lodron-Strasse in Salzburg on Saturday morning. A total of 22 residents were able to escape via the stairwells. 16 people were taken to hospital by the Red Cross.

More than 40 firefighters from the Salzburg professional fire brigade and the volunteer fire brigade with the Gnigl ​​fire brigade were able to extinguish the fire in the basement. An emergency doctor and eight ambulances cared for the people who were, according to initial information, slightly injured. These were divided between the LKH and the Barmherzigen Brüder. It is not yet known why the fire broke out. The police are investigating. The fire brigade is currently trying to clear the smoke from the building.
