Major operation in Tyrol – old farm in flames, fear for residents

Fire alarm on Thursday night in the Tyrolean lowlands: In Wildschönau (Kufstein district) an old farmhouse burst into flames and subsequently burned down completely. The emergency services fought against the inferno for hours. Meanwhile, there is great concern for one resident. It cannot be ruled out that he was in the building.

Shortly before 2 a.m., the fire department was alerted to a building fire in the Oberau district. “When we arrived, the old farmhouse was already fully ablaze,” said operations manager Rainer Naschberger in an interview with the “Krone”. No water supply on site. More than 100 emergency services then fought against the huge fire inferno. An enormous challenge! “The house is quite remote. There is no water supply there. We had to lay two long lines and set up a shuttle service with tankers,” continued Naschberger. Great fears for a residentAs the “Krone” learned early in the morning, two people lived in the building, which was ultimately completely destroyed. One person was apparently not at home. The whereabouts of the second resident are currently unclear. “Investigations are still ongoing. It cannot be ruled out that this person was still in the building at the time the fire broke out,” the police told the “Krone.” High-voltage line ran over the house. Another challenge for the fire department: “A power line ran over the building and it collapsed. The high-voltage line then had to be turned off from the Tinetz,” explains operations manager Naschberger. The fire was ultimately brought under control. In the morning, however, follow-up work was still taking place. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
