Major search operation – holidaymaker missing after fight in Westendorf

A nighttime search operation in Westendorf (Kitzbühel district) kept the police on their toes on Sunday night. A Dutch man disappeared without a trace after an argument in a bar. Hours later there was relief for everyone involved.

The search operation began hours earlier in a fight in a bar in Westendorf. There the Dutchman and his brother had a confrontation with a security employee (25). The two vacationers previously destroyed objects in the restaurant, whereupon they were approached by the employee. A little later the fists were probably flying. All three were seriously injured, but refused medical care, according to the police. Brother disappeared. However, the adventure for one of the brothers was not yet over. Shortly after 1 a.m., the mother reported that one of her sons had not come home yet. She feared an accident. The police immediately initiated a search operation with several patrols and a police service dog. A good two hours later there was a big sigh of relief: “At 3:15 a.m. the missing person was found by the police service dog,” the police describe. The man was released unharmed to his family. Nevertheless, the action in the bar is likely to have repercussions for the man: Once the survey has been completed, reports will be made to the responsible authorities.
