Major Tencent studio, Lightspeed Studios announces Code: To Jin Yong, its first Unreal Engine 5 game

Along with TiMi Studios, Lightspeed Studios is one of Tencent’s largest studios. With premises located all over the world, the studio has notably signed PUBG Mobile (with Krafton) and Apex Legends Mobile (with Electronic Arts). With Code: To Jin Yong, the studio unveils its first Unreal Engine 5 game. No platform has been announced but the game seems to be aiming for a multi-platform release and above all intends to come out all over the world to spread the good word of Wuxia, namely ancient Chinese martial arts.

As its name suggests, the game will also be an adaptation of the work of Jin Yong, a popular Chinese author of swashbuckling novels whose stories written between 1955 and 1972 have been the subject of numerous adaptations. in film and television. Fans will therefore find fictional heroes like Yang Guo, Guo Jing and Linghu Chong in this title which intends to act as a technological showcase for Lightspeed Studios, in particular in the faithful digitization of real places, such as the Huashan mountain.

Nothing obvious in view of this first choreographed demo that is anything but fluid and which does not yet give a glimpse of the open world announced by the developers. We understand that nothing here is final and that the game still has many years of development. In the meantime, Lightspeed Studios plans to bring in martial arts experts to best represent the moves as detailed in Jin Yong’s novels.
