Make bath chocolates yourself: recipe and instructions

For about 15 bath chocolates you need the following ingredients:

  • 100 g baking soda
  • 50 grams of citric acid
  • 40 g cornstarch (or cornstarch)
  • 70 g shea butter (or cocoa butter or coconut fat)
  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (e.g. lavender oil, rose oil)
  • 2 tablespoons dried flowers (e.g. lavender, rose petals, etc.)
  • Food coloring if you like

A notice: Make sure the ingredients are organic. Also keep in mind that if you use the bath chocolates with flower petals or similar, you will need a drain strainer in the bathtub.

Utils:

  • bowl
  • Sieve
  • Pot and heatproof vessel for the water bath
  • Silicone molds for ice cubes or chocolates

expenditure of time: 10 to 15 minutes plus resting time in the fridge

Instructions:

  1. Pour the cornstarch through a sieve into a bowl. Thoroughly stir in the citric acid and baking soda.
  2. Melt the vegetable butter (shea butter, cocoa butter or coconut oil) in a water bath. Once the fat is liquid, stir it into the dry ingredients so that everything is well moistened and sticks together.
  3. If you like, add the essential oil and the dried flowers and mix them thoroughly into the mass. If you like, you can add a few drops of food coloring.
  4. Fill the mixture into the ice cube molds or the praline molds. Important: Press everything down well, otherwise the finished bath chocolates could quickly crumble later. Put the molds in the fridge and let them sit there for a few hours to set.
  5. Later, remove the bath chocolates from the mold and store in a cool, dry place until use. The bath chocolates can later be beautifully wrapped as a gift.

a notice: For a full bath you can put one to three bath chocolates in the water. Thanks to the combination of baking soda and citric acid, the bath chocolates fizz as soon as they come into contact with water.
