Make grape juice yourself – with and without a juicer

In autumn it is harvest time for grapes again, so you can find out from us how you can make your own grape juice. We present three methods: without a juicer, in a steam extractor and in a juicer.

Make grape juice yourself without a juicer

If you want to make grape juice, you don't necessarily need a juicer. However, you should have the following utensils in the kitchen: a large saucepan, hand blender, fine sieve or strainer, and sterile glass bottles.

Ingredients for approx. 1 liter of juice:

  • 2 kg grapes (red or white)
  • water
  • 100 g of sugar

Preparation:

  1. For the grape juice you should only ripe and sweet grapes use so that they can fully develop their taste. Wash the grapes thoroughly and remove the stems.
  2. Put the grapes in a saucepan and cover them with water. Then you heat the pot and let the grapes cook for about 15 minutes – in this way the peel will burst and the grape juice will come out.
  3. In the next step you can puree the mass with a hand blender. Then pour it through the sieve (or the strainer) and collect the juice in a container. You can help with a wooden spoon and wring out the clothso that the grapes are completely pressed.
  4. Boil the juice again in a saucepan and stir in the sugar. When it has dissolved, you can use the grape juice Fill into bottles using a funnel. If it is hermetically sealed and stored in the dark, it will keep for about six months.

Make grape juice yourself in a steam extractor

If you have a steam juicer, you can of course also use it to juice the grapes. The advantage: The fruit does not have to be stalked beforehand, but can go straight into the basket. Then all you have to do is put water in the lower container, close the lid and heat the juicer on the stove. The steam will burst the grapes and release the juice. After about 45 minutes you can bottle the grape juice.

Juice grapes with the juicer

Another way of juicing grapes is with the slow juicer. Here, too, you do not have to remove the stems from the grapes. The advantage of cold juicers is that many nutrients are retained and not destroyed by heat. In addition, the pomace is pressed very well, so that you get a lot of juice. However, the grape juice is kept in the refrigerator only lasts for about three daysbecause it is not heated.
