Make magic sand yourself from 2 ingredients

A sandpit is a hit for children: here they can play and dig. Just set up an indoor sandpit for your kids, and they can get started straight away! You don't even have to get a lot for this … just use a suitably sized box and magic sand!

Make magic sand yourself: How it works

To make magic sand yourself, you only need the following two Ingredients:

  • wheat flour
  • Oil (e.g. baby oil or rapeseed oil)
  • as required: food coloring

Preparation:

  1. The mixing ratio is 1 part oil and 8 parts flour. So if you want to use a cup as a unit of measurement, you need 1 cup of oil and 8 cups of flour.
  2. Put the quantities in a bowl and mix everything thoroughlyuntil the oil has combined with the flour. If the magic sand is a little too fine for you, add another shot of oil – the sand is ideal if it holds together well.
  3. Do your children love colorful toys? Then just mix them colored sand! Knead some food coloring under the sand until it has colored uniformly.

tip: Even if this is not real sand, it is best to put a coated blanket under to play … after all, the slightly crumbly flour should not be spread all over the apartment.

durability: The sand lasts for a few days. Discard it as soon as it starts to smell.

Nice ideas with magic sand:

Magic sand is ideal for playing: it has a fine consistency, which is why it is particularly easy to lay motifs using molds.

Magic sand is a really good way to play "ice cream shop".

If you don't have any extra molds, cookie molds can also be used for the magic sand.

Digging and pushing is the order of the day – this should keep the little construction workers busy for a while!

With colored sand it is much more fun …
