Proper care of make-up utensils works wonders: brushes and sponges are best for the skin if they are cleaned thoroughly.

To make your beauty routine really fun, it is also part of everyday life to regularly clean utensils such as make-up sponges and brushes. Not only can you enjoy the products for a long time, but you can also do something good for your own skin. These are the best tips for cleaning makeup accessories.

What is the best way to clean a makeup sponge?

It’s best to get used to the make-upClean sponge after each use. This helps prevent germs from accumulating in the sponge, which can cause impure skin. After applying the make-up, it is best to wash the beauty blender with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo and then let it dry thoroughly so that no mold forms in the long term. To make the sponge more sterile, you can also regularly pour boiling water from the kettle over it or boil it in a pot of hot water.

If the make-up sponge is used daily, it is recommended to replace it with a new one every three to six months. This also helps prevent skin blemishes.

What is the best way to clean various makeup brushes?

When applying make-up, brushes in a wide variety of designs are often used – from blush brushes to make-up brushes to eye shadow brushes. This means that the make-up brushes touch the face everywhere – even where the skin is particularly sensitive and susceptible to germs and bacteria. Cosmetic brushes should therefore be cleaned thoroughly every two to four weeks. The more often, the better it is for the skin.

To clean makeup brushes you need lukewarm water, a mild detergent and a small towel. First, the bristles are carefully washed out under the water. Then put a pea-sized amount onto the brush head and lather under water. Turn the bristles back and forth on the palm of your hand so that the residue is easily removed from the hairs. At the end you should wash the brushes thoroughly with water until the water becomes clear again. Finally, carefully pat the bristles dry with a towel and then let them air dry on the towel while lying down.
