Malcolm is an American television series that aired from 2000 to 2006. Created by Linwood Boomer, the series depicts the daily life of the Wilkerson family, a family that could be described as… atypical. Thanks to its mix of humor and its excellent cast, Malcolm became one of the most beloved series of its time. For many of us, it symbolizes the return to school and the snack break. In fact, Malcolm left a lasting mark on television. She has won numerous awards and nominations, including several Emmy Awards. She also helped launch the careers of several actors, including Bryan Cranston, who later starred in breaking Bad that we no longer present. In this context one can understand the desire to produce a sequel.
If Bryan Cranston wishes to retire in 2026, including finding a charming home in the south of France (in his own words), the actor would first like to return to a work important to his heart: Malcolm. Thus, within the American Talk-Show Watch What Happens Live Bryan Cranston was able to make a very nice teaser which is likely to please many fans. In particular, he was asked if Malcolm was expected to make his big comeback one day, to which the actor replied:
Yeah, I’d say on a scale of 1-10, we’re on an 8 and doing a reunion or a movie or a show or something. And yes, we worked on story concepts, plots and things like that.
You understand, the man seems very enthusiastic about the idea of making a comeback. It remains to be seen in what form. It’s not the first time the man has talked about it openly, but things seem to be moving in the right direction.
The story of a cult work
For the record, the story takes place in a typical American suburb, where Malcolm is placed in a class for the gifted at school. What works well is that the series explores the challenges that Malcolm and his family face, whether it’s teenage difficulties (bullying), school problems (bad grades), family conflicts or the vagaries of life. This is also why the work was so impactful, as most viewers around the age of the protagonist were able to relate (to varying degrees).
