He left his mark on the television landscape of the 2000s with the cult series “Malcolm”. But if his career has been very positive, Frankie Muniz is aware of the dangers of the industry and does not want the same thing for his children.
If you grew up in the early 2000s, you probably shared some childhood or teenage memories with Malcolm and his family. Played by Frankie Muniz for 7 memorable seasons, in a series that is among the Editor’s favorites, this little genius, as turbulent as he is gifted, gave us wonderful moments of television.
Now aged 38, his interpreter (who has never hidden his desire to see the entire family return for a television reunion) has deserted the film sets for several years to devote himself to his second passion: racing of NASCAR.
“I will never let my child enter this industry.”
Recently interviewed by Pedestrian TVFrankie Muniz spoke about his younger years as an actor and declared that he refused to see his young son (now aged 3) become a child star:
“I will never let my child enter this industry”he said before specifying that this decision had nothing to do with his own television adventure.
“It’s not that I had a negative experience, because honestly, it was totally positive. But I know a lot of people, friends who were close to me, who had terribly negative experiences. I think it’s just a horrible world in general.”
“Becoming a successful actor is like winning the lottery”
Muniz then clarified his point, explaining that in the world of cinema and series there were generally many called but few chosen, and that the “luck” factor was fundamental:
“I never paid attention to rejection, but there is a lot of rejection. I honestly say, becoming a successful actor is like winning the lottery. In the beginning, that’s all it is.”he explained, recounting that on Malcolm, he was first cast for his physical resemblance to his television parents, and that many talented actors took a chance without ever breaking through.
