Malika Ménard, victim of a sexual assault at 5 years old, she confides for the first time

Malika Ménard, Miss France 2010, confided for the very first time about the sexual assault she suffered during her childhood.

It is in the columns of the new issue of the magazine Closer that Malika Ménard wished to express herself for the very first time on a traumatic experience that she lived during her childhood. Indeed, Miss France 2010 was victim of a sexual assault when she was only 5 years old. The young woman confessed that the testimonies of victims of sexual violence following the movement #Metoo had helped her break the silence.

“When I was 5 I realized I was a girl. If I had been a boy this man wouldn't have picked on me. That's when I ask my mom to cut my hair very short and buy me boy's clothes so that I don't have to face that kind of aggression again.", she explains to Close.

Malika Ménard released her first book entitled "Fuck the complexes " which will be published by editions Amphora next October 13. In this book, the 33-year-old woman confides in this trauma, experienced as a burden, which she has hidden for years. From now on, Malika Ménard no longer intends to make this sexual assault a taboo. It designates in particular her attacker, the son of her nanny who was then 30 years old.

Miss France 2010 admits that she did not confide earlier about this sexual assault because she wanted "to spare his parents". However, she wanted to be honest with her readers. "This book is about the relationship with the body. I would not have been honest with the readers if I had not brought up this event", she reveals in her interview.

The young woman also declares that she had always wanted to write and that writing this book was a real trigger for her. "I thought I was a writer. It took a while for it to click (…) but as soon as I started to write everything became crystal clear and I couldn't stop", she concludes.
