Mallorca: Hotels don't open until June due to virus

In view of the coronavirus crisis and the resulting drop in demand for rooms, the Mallorca hoteliers have decided not to reopen their hostels until June. There are currently more cancellations than reservations, the MM sister newspaper "Ultima Hora" quoted the responsible association "Fehm" on Wednesday.

Nothing will change in this development in the next five to six weeks. If a hotel is under 30 percent occupied, it will not open for the time being and the guests will be distributed to other houses.

Playa de Palma, Palmanova and Magaluf, Cala Rajada, Cala Millor, Cala d'Or, Alcúdia-Can Picafort, Santa Margalida, Sóller and Pollença are most affected by the shift in openings.

Meanwhile, the European Union allowed airlines to cancel flights in the face of the epidemic without fear of sanctions. (it)
