Mallorca has not been a risk area since Sunday – and the run on the Spanish island has begun. But how long does it work?

Want to quickly fly to Mallorca for a few relaxing days? Despite the corona pandemic, theoretically possible since last Sunday. The Robert Koch Institute removed the Balearic Island from its list of risk areas and thus a vacation on site is suddenly possible again without subsequent quarantine in Germany. But does this remain the case?

In view of the increasing incidence figures in large parts of Germany, it is actually hard to imagine. And yet Eurowings announced that they would like to use 300 extra planes to transport holidaymakers to Mallorca over the Easter holidays. But more and more resistance is forming. The state government of Lower Saxony announced that it was thinking about mandatory testing of returnees.

In talks with the federal government, people who want to travel to Mallorca should know that they are exposing themselves to "a certain risk". Because people from all over Europe meet there, there is a risk of the infection spreading. In addition to Mallorca, the federal government also removed other regions in Spain and Portugal from the risk list. This does not, of course, apply to any entry restrictions or other local measures.
