Man ambushed woman and filmed naked women with camera

A 40-year-old man repeatedly poured sugar solution into the hair of a young woman at a train station in the Zurich Unterland. It turned out that he had other offenses on his books.

There were two uncanny hobbies pursued by a 40-year-old car mechanic and chauffeur: for weeks he stalked a young woman at a train station at the same time and followed her silently. And he hid small video cameras in the dressing rooms of a solarium and a tennis center. With a penalty order, he was sentenced to six months in prison, which he must serve in full.

According to the final penalty order from the public prosecutor’s office in Winterthur/Unterland, the car mechanic initially poured a watery, sticky sugar solution into the young woman’s hair several times in March 2021 at a train station in the Zurich Unterland. However, this did not result in any health impairment, according to the penalty order. The penalty order does not state whether the man had previously known the woman.

Tracks from train station to bus

Between April 6 and May 18, 2021, the 40-year-old waited early in the morning after 6 a.m. on the platform of the same station for a specific train to arrive. Every time he went down the underpass, he stood in the crowd of people who had prepared to board the train. After the train entered, he made eye contact with the young woman as she got off the train. He then followed her to the bus stop, where she boarded a bus and drove away. He did this almost every day, causing the victim fear and terror and a great deal of psychological stress.

Over time, the young woman would panic, even if someone else somewhere was following her. From then on she changed her clothes, pulled a hood over her head, considered a complete change of commute and also considered letting her parents drive her to work. The disturbing situation only ended with the arrest of the suspect.

It turned out that the accused had also installed cameras in three cabins in a solarium in the Zurich Oberland. He used it to film two naked women and two naked men who have remained unknown to this day. He also recorded the operators of the solarium at their work. According to the penalty order, the accused’s motive was “to subsequently transfer the recordings to his computer and thus to satisfy his personal needs”.

Naked women showering filmed

He also installed cameras in a smoke detector, an air freshener and a closet in the women’s dressing room at a tennis center. He used it to film three women who could be identified and two who remained unknown, naked while showering. Not only the behavior of the accused, but also the passage about it in the penalty order is rather strange:

There it says: “As a result, he recorded facts from the highly personal area, which were only entrusted to very few people, namely at most the women who were showering at the same time, on data carriers.”

At the time of his arrest, the suspect had already had three previous convictions. A criminal record of this is relevant. According to the penalty order, it must therefore be assumed that a fine “would not have a sufficient deterrent effect”. The car mechanic was sentenced to 6 months imprisonment and a fine of 300 francs for coercion, multiple violations of secret and private areas through recording devices, multiple trespassing and multiple assaults.

The prison sentence is carried out. A day of imprisonment has already arisen. The data carriers will be destroyed. In addition, the accused must also pay 7,240 francs for police expenses and 800 francs in fees. Together with the fine, this results in an amount of CHF 8,340 to be paid. The costs of official defense go to the state treasury. Any civil lawsuits were referred to the civil court.
