Man found dead next to his unconscious wife, investigators stunned

New drama in Deux-Sèvres this weekend. While the families of Leslie Hoorelbeke and Kevin Trompat buried the young couple who had disappeared since the end of last November, this Sunday March 19, 2023 another horror scene was discovered in Deux-Sèvres. That morning, in the town of Bourdet, the neighbor of an octogenarian couple decides to go and make sure they are well. As he enters the home, he makes a gruesome discovery. In the marital bedroom, the 88-year-old man, lying on a medical bed, has his body larded with several stab wounds. A little further on the couple’s bed, his 86-year-old wife lies unconscious with injuries to her wrists.

The neighbor immediately alerted the emergency services, who as soon as they arrived found the death of the husband as a result of his injuries. The wife was still alive when they arrived on the spot. She was immediately taken care of and directed to the Niort hospital center, located about twenty kilometers away. While in January already the assassination of an octogenarian couple had made the headlines, an investigation was immediately launched by the local gendarmerie. A specialist forensic pathologist and a criminal identification technician from Poitiers went to the couple’s pavilion the same day to try to reconstruct the sequence of events.

The thesis of a family drama is privileged

According to the first findings of the investigation, it could be a family drama. The octogenarian couple would have made a form of common suicide attempt. According to the information given by the investigators, the spouses would have prepared their departure by leaving documents whose nature was not revealed in the apartment. They would also have already informed several of their relatives of their intention to end their lives.

The investigation by the Niort research brigade is still ongoing to confirm this hypothesis. No news of the 86-year-old woman, hospitalized, has yet been communicated.
