By pretending to have been the victim of a knife attack and injured his hand – the “Krone” reported – an Austrian in Kufstein, Tyrol, called the police on Friday. After intensive investigations by the officials, however, it now turned out how the cuts on his hand had really come about.
A southerner wanted to stab him with a knife after he had spoken to his girlfriend beforehand – this is how a 32-year-old Austrian told the police how he injured his hand in front of a Kufstein restaurant on Friday evening. He described a dark-haired man wearing a green t-shirt and dark pants. But now it is clear: This “attacker” does not exist at all, as investigators from the Kufstein police station found out. Self-injured in a dispute with a girlfriend. Actually, the 32-year-old did not get into an argument with another man, but with his girlfriend of the same age. In the course of this, he smashed a beer bottle on a table in front of the bar. This is how the bleeding wound on his right hand came about – not from deflecting a knife, as the local said. According to the investigators, it still has to be clarified why the man faked this act. He is now facing a charge of faking a punishable act – and of property damage, because the table he hit with the beer bottle was damaged.
