Manifesto: These deaths take a toll on you!

The Netflix series “Manifest” has four seasons. Throughout the story, some characters’ deaths were particularly gruesome to watch, hard to digest, and emotionally process. The finale takes an amazing turn and brings back some of the characters.

Still, some of the death scenes from previous seasons weren’t easy. So: handkerchiefs out!

angelina

After the brilliant season finale of “Manifest” on June 2, 2023, one thing is certain: Angelina and ten other passengers failed God’s test and irretrievably crumbled to dust. Angelina is a killer and has shown no remorse even in the last minutes of her life. So she has no chance of salvation.

All passengers who were good people on the day of death and have also shown forgiveness are given a second chance at a good life by God. Time is turned back to 2013 when all the characters were still alive.

The finale of “Manifest” gave all the passengers who deserved it a chance for a new life. Nevertheless, we accompanied, cheered and mourned Michaela, Ben and all the other characters over four seasons. Although most deaths were undone by time travel, there was not a dry eye in these death scenes.

major

The Major is the first major antagonist and is behind brutal experiments on the passengers of Flight 828. According to some fan theories, she is even behind the crash of the flight. What is particularly gruesome is her mission to approach Saanvi by acting as her psychologist.

Although fans didn’t like her, her death leaves one sad. After Saanvi confronts her, she divulges vital information to escape her death. She reveals in her dying breath that the US Army has not found a cure for the DNA mutation and plans to infect humans and use them as weapons. When it also becomes clear that she is leaving a daughter behind, one feels bad for her death.

As time is turned back in the finale of “Manifest”, the Major’s death is reversed. Since she wasn’t a passenger on Flight 828, she won’t remember the years. Because the flight and thus the DNA mutation will not exist in the new era, it will probably lead a long life.

James Griffins

Though James Griffin is actually working against Manifest’s favorite characters, his death is gruesome to watch. Watching him drown from the inside in public is far from easy. In addition to the horrible drowning, the realization that Griffin’s death brings to light is particularly worrying for fans: that all passengers will die exactly five years after their return.

The fate of James Griffin is also decided in the new era. If he decides to rob an armored vehicle again, he will die trying to escape. So he is not spared death by drowning.

Pete Baylor

Criminal Pete Baylor was responsible for many atrocities. However, it quickly became clear that he only did everything for his brother. He feels bad about harming others. Unfortunately, he doesn’t have the self-confidence to stand up to his brother. When he then also falls madly in love with Angelina and tries to stop his brother, you have sympathy for the character.

So Pete was actually a good person and that makes his death even more tragic. One would have wished for more time for him to make amends for his deeds.

Whether Pete will also be a good person in 2013 remains pure speculation. One can hope for him that even without the help of Michaela and Angelina he will stand against his tyrannical brother and find a better way. After all, he will not drown while fleeing the passengers in the lake.

Kenneth Meyer

Kenneth Meyer acts in “Manifest” as a brutal serial killer who eliminates all passengers who supposedly influence his daughter Angelina badly. Convinced that baby Eden is a demon, Meyer begins his quest to kill Eden.

Of course it was important that Meyer be stopped in his mission. Baby Eden is rescued by her big sister Olive at the last second. This overwhelms Meyer with a jewelry box and throws him through the window to his death. However, the fact that young Olive has to live with this homicide all her life is particularly disturbing and sad.

Kenneth Meyer and his wife were also believers before Flight 828. The obsession that the passengers were sent by the devil stays away after time travel. So one can hope that Kenneth has no reason to become a serial killer. What is clear is that he is not thrown out of the window by Olive.

Zeke Landon

While Zeke Landon wasn’t a passenger on Flight 828, his role in Michaela’s life ended up being particularly important. Many fans were initially against Zeke because they preferred to see Jared at Michaela’s side and he had a fateful past. But that changes when you learn what Zeke’s mission on Earth is.

Zeke finally learns why he came back in the first part of the fourth season. It was his job to be there for Michaela and her family. When Cal is in excruciating pain, Zeke uses his empathy ability to take all of that pain away from him and dies from it. This scene is particularly heartbreaking because Zeke dies in Michaela’s arms. Michaela can hardly stand the grief. So fans have mixed feelings: although the death is tragic and sad, one is left relieved because by this heroic act, Zeke saved Cal’s life and ended his mission on Earth.

Zeke’s fate in the new era is uncertain. Only Michaela remembers their time together and knows that on the day of arrival he is waiting for passengers in a taxi at the airport. After turning down Jared’s marriage proposal, she finds Zeke’s cab. In the last scene she tells the overwhelmed Zeke to just drive off because she has a lot to tell him.

Anna Ross

For a long time, Anna has been convinced that Ben is a bad person and that Angelina and Eden need to be protected from him. Turns out Angelina was manipulating her the whole time. After realizing this, Anna reconsiders her actions. So she makes it her mission to convince Eden too that her father is a good man.

Fans were shocked to learn that Anna finally fell victim to Kenneth Meyer and there was no saving her. What is particularly sad is that Anna was another caregiver torn from Eden’s life.

Anna Ross also gets a new chance at a normal life. Because the passengers were able to prove themselves to God, Anna will land normally in 2013, remember her pre-flight missteps, and return to her husband.

Violet Wheeler

Violet Wheeler was a passenger on Flight 828 and the first girlfriend Cal could have had. The two meet for an adorable date where they sing karaoke, laugh, kiss and chat.

When it becomes clear that she fell victim to Kenneth Meyer, one feels particularly bad for Cal. The boy, who had to go through so much, was robbed of the chance to lead a normal life, at least in part. But that’s not all: because Cal is the last person who saw Violet alive, he is considered a suspect.

Violet also gets another chance in the final. Because Cal is significantly younger again due to the time travel and is the only one who can’t remember anything, there will be no love story with him. However, at the baggage claim, she runs into TJ, who dated Cal’s twin sister Olive in the old days. So the two have the same destiny and could be happy together.

Grace Stone

The biggest shock for fans was probably the finale of the third season. Angelina stabs Grace, flees with Eden, leaving Grace bleeding to death on the floor. In her final minutes, she is comforted by her son Cal, who returns five years older. This death leaves no dry eye.

Grace has long been considered one of Manifest’s favorite characters. That’s exactly why it was so upsetting when she died in such a brutal way. There is mourning for Grace, but also for her family, who now have to make do without a mother and wife.

Probably the most beautiful moment in the finale of “Manifest” is when Ben and Michaela discover a perfectly healthy Grace at the airport. Due to time travel, her death never happened and she has no recollection of after Flight 828 disappeared. Ben greets her enthusiastically, explains that Cal can be cured of cancer through Saanvi and makes allusions to a third child. All’s well that ends well.
