Manitou bf: The Manitou group gets its hands on the know-how of ATN Platforms in aerial work platforms

(BFM Bourse) – The world leader in all-terrain handling equipment adds another string to its bow with the acquisition of the intellectual property of ATN Platforms, a company specializing in the design and assembly of aerial work platforms.

Manitou fell slightly despite the announcement of the acquisition of the intellectual property of the company ATN Platforms, which specializes in the design and assembly of aerial work platforms.

The group, which manufactures and markets a variety of equipment (forklifts, loaders, backhoe loaders, aerial work platforms, on-board forklifts, etc.) has acquired as part of a receivership procedure before the Commercial Court of Agen, the intellectual property of the French company ATN Platforms. The latter specializes in the design of lifting platforms, in particular vertical platforms. Despite its takeover by the Fassi company in 2020, ATN Platforms was unable to raise the bar, bearing the brunt of the Covid crisis and the consequences of the Ukrainian conflict.

A growth lever for Manitou

The acquisition of ATN Platforms allows Manitou to extend its existing product range and accelerate its development in a particularly dynamic market. The group was also sensitive to the experience acquired by ATN Platforms in this niche, a strong point which reinforced Manitou in its decision to buy this company.

“This opportunity is a lever for growth for Manitou Group. Our two nacelle production sites located in Candé (Maine-et-Loire) will assemble the models of vertical lifting nacelles, resulting from the know-how of ATN Platforms, in order to offer our customers an ever wider choice of solutions. elevations of people”, explains Michel Denis, Managing Director of Manitou.

To support this acquisition, Manitou Group is enriched by the expertise of nearly ten employees of the company ATN Platforms, who will remain based in Tonneins, the historic site of the company based in Lot-et-Garonne.

2022 objectives confirmed

On the occasion of its half-year update, Manitou confirmed its 2022 objectives after contrasting results over the first six months of the current year. Over the past half-year, current operating income represents 4.3% of turnover, down sharply from the profitability of June 2021, the “level of which was the record point since 2008”. Net profit contracted to 29.3 million euros compared to 64.2 million euros in the first half of the previous financial year. However, the group closed the half-year with a 9% growth in its turnover compared to June 2021, “thanks to a strong acceleration of its production and its deliveries in the second quarter”.

In this context, Manitou confirms its forecast of revenue growth for 2022 of more than 20% compared to 2021. The group is counting in particular on the depth of its order book, from 3 billion euros to end of 2021.

It also maintains the suspension of its operating margin forecasts. Last April, Manitou was forced to abandon its outlook for this indicator in the absence of visibility on the consequences of the Ukrainian conflict. “The impacts of the conflict in Ukraine on the prices of components, steel and energy are too volatile for the group to be able to confirm its anticipation of current operating margin for the year”, warned the company at the time. direction.
