Télé Star: You are leaving Do not forget the lyrics with 40 victories and 270,000 euros in earnings. Tell us about this defeat …
Manon: It’s a difficult elimination that I had trouble digesting because I lost on a great classic of French song, Fly Me by Jean-Jacques Goldman. With my opponent, Laetitia, we had a gap of only 20 points. I’m sure she has potential. For my part, I had, quite simply, a black hole at the time of the second verse. Laetitia knew how to seize her chance. I’m happy for her but I’m also very disappointed to lose on this great classic.
How do you explain this defeat?
There is an accumulation of several things including the sequence of shootings over several days. There is also the pressure we put on ourselves because we don’t want the adventure to stop. We always tell ourselves that this can be the last show so we have to keep smiling.
What was your goal when you arrived on the show?
After two failures, it was really to pick up the silver mic. Then it was to win at least once the 20,000 euros. Then to pass the milestone of 100,000 euros. Then enter the Masters to tell yourself that the adventure will continue even in the event of elimination. And finally the Top 10. I have fulfilled a large part of my objectives.
You will participate in the next Masters and the next Maestros Tournament. Are you looking forward to meeting the other Maestros?
I am very impatient. I will give myself a few days of rest to rest my brain and enjoy mine before resuming revisions for the Maestros Tournament which will take place in the spring. Then I will revise the “unloved” songs for the next Masters. This is not my cup of tea.
How do you stack up against other Top 10 members?
Ranking doesn’t mean much. Nagui says this quite often. Everyone has a chance. The more we work, the more chances we put on our side. You also have to find the right song. In the 32 Masters qualified, some deserve to be higher.
What are you going to do with your earnings?
With Richard, my companion, we are going to finish the work on our house and, when the situation allows it, we will take the opportunity to travel with our loved ones.
Are you recognized in the street?
I have been approached several times. It is always benevolent. People congratulate me and ask me for autographs. I also had several people who asked me for advice and tips as they were going to be on the show, in the coming weeks.
