Manuel Neuer: Euphoric Bayern captain greets with master announcement from rehab

First master, then number one?
Euphoric New gives FC Bayern hope

FC Bayern is fighting doggedly in the Bundesliga for the last chance for the title this season and at the same time captain Manuel Neuer is trying to make a successful comeback in the weight room. He should and wants to be number one again for the coming season. He is optimistic about his recovery.

Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer is hoping to return to training soon after his serious injury. “Rehab is going very well, we’re happy. The last pictures were good too. It’s fun to make a step forward every day. We’re all optimistic,” said the 37-year-old goalkeeper on the club’s website.

“The goalkeeper-specific exercises that we do indoors work very well. I can already ride my bike again without any problems and I can also do most of the strength exercises,” Neuer continued. In addition, he is already training on the so-called Alter-G treadmill (Anti-gravity treadmill, ed.). If everything goes according to plan, according to Neuer, he will soon start with individual exercises on the pitch.

Neuer broke his lower leg in December on a ski tour after the failed World Cup in Qatar. The DFB captain will not play again this season. His comeback in team training is expected at the start of preparations for the coming season. The new Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel is also said to be planning with Neuer as number one. It is still unclear what the future of Yann Sommer, who came from Gladbach in winter as a substitute, will look like. Most recently, the Swiss had come under public criticism for several mistakes.

He currently exchanges ideas with his teammates almost every day on Säbener Straße. Neuer is optimistic that Munich will win the title for the eleventh time in a row despite a bumpy and disappointing season so far: “We’ve got it back in our own hands. I’m sure we’ll be champions.”
