Manuels Valls confides in his life as a couple with Susana Gallardo, between France and Spain


After a stinging defeat in the primaries of the left in 2017, against Benoît Hamon – a political fall that generated a strong depression – Manuel Valls returns to the front of the stage. On March 24, 2021, the former Prime Minister published a new book published by Grasset, called Not a drop of French blood. A work that he says is a real “ode of love to France ”, this country where he grew up and from which he ended up going into exile. Guest on the set of C to You to evoke this literary exit, Monday March 29, Manuel Valls is precisely returned on his departure for Spain. “Sometimes I felt rejected by the French, because I embodied the failures of François Hollande’s five-year term ”, confides the Barcelonan, “appeared as the traitor ” of the left after his support for Emmanuel Macron in the presidential elections.

I am not a candidate for anything ”

Despite this difficult period, Manuel Valls assures us that he “never left France completely ”. “I came back regularly to see my mother, to see my children, my dear friends… I have activities here too”, explains the former tenant of Matignon in front of Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine. So there you have it three years he has been doing “round trips ” between France and Spain, where his wife resides. Susana Gallardo – businesswoman and wealthy Catalan heiress, with whom he married in 2019 – “has his family there, and professional activities ”. There is therefore no question of resettling definitively in France, despite his desire to “Rebalance your life” and to return to the forefront of the French political scene.

While some imagine him soon to be back in government, Manuel Valls was very clear in front of the cameras of France 5 : “I am not a candidate for anything, but I want to participate in the political debate because I love my country. ” In the midst of a health and social crisis, the former minister intends to make a contribution to the building. He does not yet know how, but one thing is certain: we will still hear about Manuel Valls in the coming months, or even the next years.
