- Ukraine said on Friday it had pushed back a nighttime explosive drone attack conducted by Russia. A night salvo of Shahed drones was sent by the Russians, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The latter assured that it had shot down the sixteen Iranian-made aircraft that would have been launched.
- On Friday, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenbergcalled on the member states of the Alliance to provide more armaments and ammunition to Ukraine. The British Ministry of DefenseBen Wallace, announced on Friday a donation of more than “1,000 Vallon metal detectors” and “one hundred bomb disarmament kits”or anti-explosion kits, for “Help clear minefields” and ensure the safety of “recovered territories, dwellings and infrastructures”.
- The Russian President, Vladimir Poutineand its Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, discussed Friday during a meeting by videoconference. Mr Putin said he hoped the Chinese president would come to Russia for a “state visit” to ” spring “ 2023. He also said he wanted to strengthen the military cooperation with Chinapraising the resistance of Moscow and Beijing to the “pressures” Western. The accounts of the exchanges between the two men reveal a significant difference of views on the conflict in Ukraine.
- The last emergency power source of the Zaporizhia power plant was damaged and disconnected, announces the IAEA. The extent of the damage is not yet known precisely, but repair work is already underway, the statement said. The plant, whose six reactors are shut down, “receives the electricity it needs for cooling the reactors (…) of the only, henceforth, electrical source still operational (750 kilovolts)”.
