Became general manager of BFMTV in April 2019, Marc-Olivier Fogiel gave up the antenna. Asked by Le Parisien, he explained whether or not he intended to return there.
Boss… and presenter? Appointed general manager of BFMTV since April 2019, Marc-Olivier Fogiel has moved away from the antenna. Since the broadcast of his program, Le Divan by Marc-Olivier Fogiel, the journalist has not hosted any program. And it is not the desire that is lacking. In the columns of Parisian indeed, he also explained the reason why viewers could not see him again soon. “Arthur Dreyfuss (the CEO of Altice Media, the group to which BFMTV belongs, editor’s note) asked me the question. I think it is not compatible with my current job”, assured Marc-Olivier Fogiel. And for good reason, the general manager of the continuous news channel is worried … “It could lead to conflicts of interest. It’s unmanageable. Afterwards, in another life, I don’t forbid myself, he added. I especially loved my last ten years of radio.”
Already in 2019, when announcing his departure for BFMTV, he left no room for doubt. “Being a general manager is a full-time position. I won’t be on the air next door. I will now support the teams. And it’s a hell of a job”, he joked with our colleagues. At the time, he said he was not going to miss doing the antenna. “I’ve done so many different shows…Today I feel like a mission accomplished, he launched. I can calmly move on. I don’t forbid myself to come back to it in a few years.” But that time has not yet come. Especially since Marc-Olivier Fogiel loves his current job. And he’s teeming with ideas for BFMTV. In particular about the program La France dans les yeux, presented by Jean-Jacques Bourdin and launched this Tuesday, January 18 with Valérie Pécresse, who set a condition after the complaint filed against the journalist.
Marc-Olivier Fogiel: “We want to make a political program that reaches the general public”
“We want to make a political program that reaches the general public, with at the heart of the device a panel of fifty people, of all ages, of all socio-professional categories, of all origins”, describes Marc-Olivier Fogiel in the columns of Parisian. After the one with the Republican candidate, viewers will find three others: Mélenchon, Zemmour, Le Pen. “Jean-Jacques Bourdin is also discussing with Macron’s team to bring him in. Producing special programs like this or Face à BFM is what sets us apart, rejoices Marc-Olivier Fogiel. We run one event per week. We can afford it because we are beneficiaries.” And he hopes to be able to participate in the second-round debate, just like TF1 and France 2.
