(sda) Odermatt, who was already in the lead after the first run, won ahead of the Austrian Manuel Feller and the French Alexis Pinturault. With his fourth win in the fifth giant slalom of the winter, Odermatt ended a 14-year winless period for the Swiss drivers. Back then, Marc Berthod and Daniel Albrecht ensured a double success.

Odermatt could not be put off the path to success by anything – neither from the conditions, which were more difficult than seldom before in Adelboden, nor from the immense pressure that weighed on his shoulders. Even the clear leader in the overall and in the discipline valuation did not make it through the demanding slope without mistakes. Nevertheless, he did not let himself be stopped on the way to his ninth World Cup victory overall.

Justin Murisier just missed his second World Cup podium on his 30th birthday. The Valais finished fourth. Loïc Meillard achieved his second best result of the season in this discipline with rank 8.

Gino Caviezel made up 6 places in the second run, which was enough for 11th place in the final classification. Cédric Noger secured his first World Cup points in a year thanks to rank 24. Daniele Sette, the sixth Swiss finalist, also delivered a countable result with 27th place in the fifth giant slalom of the season.
