Queen Margrethe
Dress code chaos at her 50th anniversary celebrations
Queen Margrethe celebrates her 50th anniversary with the Danish people and her entire family. But instead of reminding of perfect unity, the completely different looks of the royals cause fashion confusion.
The Danish royals have once again thrown into their holiday outfits! Queen Margrethe II, 82, has been on Denmark’s throne for fifty, almost fifty-one years. To mark this anniversary, the regent will be honored at an event in Copenhagen City Hall. Your holiday look is definitely not something to forget in a hurry! Margrethe causes a stir in bright colors, but Princess Mary, 50, and Princess Marie, 46, also catch the eye with their looks. However, there is no uniform dress code.
Margrethe in a style mix intoxication
Chain smoker, artist, queen. Margrethe of Denmark is considered a bird of paradise among royals, but the people love her unconventional manner. To celebrate her long reign, Margrethe lives up to her reputation and appears in an ensemble that one would probably not expect from any other monarch. Costume in rich purple, matching brimmed hat and XL fur throw – the 82-year-old is the center of the party in several ways at the celebrations at the town hall. She combines the unconventional and above all eye-catching pieces of clothing with flat ballerinas and a large black quilted bag. What may seem a bit thrown together for some is in line with the Danish queen’s special style.
Crown Princess Mary has a more classic look
Daughter-in-law Mary is much more reserved at the celebrations. She wears a polka-dot dress by Iris & Ink, which is perfectly complemented by her navy blue coat by Harris Wharf. Dark blue suede pumps from Jimmy Choo and a Quidam Bags clutch pick up the tone of her dress-coat combination and ensure a harmonious picture. An embroidered headband in burgundy red provides a splash of color in the rather monochrome blue look. Pretty, but also unusually simple for the crown princess.
Princess Mary goes for a completely different look
Princess Marie’s outfit is in complete contrast to the first two looks. Prince Joachim’s wife, 53, opts for a trouser suit and a combination of black and white. In doing so, she clearly distances herself visually from Margrethe’s play of bright colors, but also from Mary’s feminine ensemble. Princess Marie’s look expresses power: the 46-year-old combined the Milano stitch jacket from Emporio Armani with white trousers from the same designer and a black clutch from Bottega Veneta. An eye-catcher look of the celebrations, just because of its completely different style.
