How do you think a real pop icon celebrates Christmas? Mariah Carey is known for making her life extremely extravagant and at Christmas Mariah really turns it up for her twins, as she reveals in a new interview.

Mariah Carey, 52, loves her role as a single mother of two. With ex-husband Nick Cannon, 41, she shares twins Moroccan Scott Cannon and Monroe Cannon, both 10. In a new interview with UsWeekly, the singer talks about how Christmas is really going for her.

Mariah Carey: “I’m a ‘cool mom’ because we have no rules”

“I’m not a normal mom. I’m a cool mom. I hate being the bad guy, that’s why we don’t have any rules. I really hate that more than anything and would rather be a ‘cool mom'”, said Carey in an interview. Mariah also tells how the two children see their career successes, now that they are aware of a lot more consciously: “My children now notice a lot more, they see my name and” All I Want for Christmas Is You “at the top of the current hit lists and are amazed. After all, when the song came out in 2011, they were just born ”.

Very own Christmas traditions

While Mariah is also preparing for the festive season, she reveals her loved ones very own Christmas traditions: “I sleep. This is how it works with us: I love to stay up late into the night. We have many traditions and we start on the 23rd. So on Christmas morning I’m already up at 5am to arrange all the Christmas presents under the tree. We have breakfast and the children open their presents. I prefer to wait with my presents because I enjoy watching the children unpack ” says Carey. “Then I go back to bed and sleep until the afternoon”.

She loves to pamper her children with luxury

Mariah reveals that her children are by no means shy when writing the wish list: “My daughter’s Christmas wish list contains 66 items and I’m not exaggerating. She texted them for me. I just thought: ‘Are you kidding me?’ Christmas goes over the top a lot, but I kind of need it to remind myself how good I am today. But I didn’t grow up with it either. Sometimes there was just one packaged orange – I didn’t exactly grow up with luxury. Hence I love to pamper my children today and to make the festive season something special for them. There is nothing better for me! ”
