In Visions, the actress embodies Chloé, the mother of Diego, a little boy endowed with paranormal powers, who has the ability to maintain dialogues with the deceased. Monday May 30 at 9:10 p.m. on TF1.
How does Chloé, your character, perceive the strangeness of what Diego feels?
Marie-Ange Casta: Chloe is both worried and filled with love for her son. She is also afraid of the unknown, afraid that he will not be well. She feels guilty for certain things, in particular because of the separation from her father. But with the help of the psychologist (played by Louane, editor’s note), she will learn to apprehend this gift and grow with Diego.
Why is Ben, his companion, so hermetic to these manifestations?
Men tend to be less connected to their feelings, while maternal instinct leads us to accept much more of reality. I think it’s very feminine. But I don’t judge him, because it’s not easy to welcome changes. It involves work on oneself that not everyone is able to do.
Are there things in Visions who upset you?
This is my first role as a mother. I am 31 years old and it is not necessarily natural for me to interpret this type of character. But I was a mother myself at 22, and I have a daughter who is 8, like Diego. So inevitably, we wonder what we would do in this situation. Because I know what it’s like to be anxious for your children, especially since I had a 6-month-old baby at the time of filming.
Over the years, you keep adding strings to your bow. Is it a source of pride to be able to diversify so much?
I don’t ask myself the question, because I like a lot of things, and I don’t want to put up any barriers. So I sail according to my desires and what I find interesting and deep.
Did the artistic audacity of your sister Laetitia serve as an example to you?
Like me, she is very free. I imagine it’s because our parents raised us that way. I was a very good student and they hoped that I would go to Sciences Po, but their disappointment is not mine, and they accepted it.
Your husband, Marc-Antoine Le Bret, camped two creatures in Mask Singer. Were you in on the secret?
Yes still ! But apart from me, nobody knew, not even the children, because that would have been the best way for the news to spread at high speed…
