A few weeks after blowing out her 40th candle, Marilou Berry posted a poignant message on Instagram denouncing the identity theft of which she is the victim.
While she gathered her family and friends, in a place that remained secret, to celebrate her fortieth birthday, Saturday, February 4, 2023, Marilou Berry no longer has the heart to celebrate. Like many celebrities, the star of the hit seriesI promise youbeen victim of identity theft : “For the past few days, I have been receiving a wave of messages telling me: ‘Ah, we are using your image for advertising.’ Or messages saying, ‘I saw you were promoting a magic weight loss pill, does it work?’” she testified in Instagram story, Tuesday, March 7, 2023. And to kindly warn its approximately 200,000 subscribers: “This is absurd, completely absurd. But what really bothers me is that people might think that one, I advertise this type of product, and two, that these products work because they don’t work. Nothing will ever be solved with a magic pill, it does not exist! […] In any case, at best you will lose money and at worst you will have health problems.[…]Really, don’t buy this!”

The daughter of Josiane Balasko had however been aware of this kind of scam for some time, trying in vain to put an end to it. “I do not know what to do. Really, I don’t know what to do except keep doing this same shitty story. These are bullshit companies that flourish, that change their names the next day, there are twelve of them at the same time, they make waves of advertising campaigns, it’s absurd“, she confided, visibly distraught. And conclude with a dash of humor : “What is still quite funny is that they take pictures of me that they find on the Internet, before/after, where the after is actually the before.”

Marilou Berry knows only too well the excesses of the Net. Indeed, if the niece of Richard Berry has faced the scourge of identity theft, she has not escaped public lynching either. The colleague of Camille Lou and Hugo Becker was faced with fatphobia. Criticisms about her physique she also received in the professional setting. In another Instagram story posted in July 2022, the 40-year-old actress had indeed pointed the finger more than inappropriate remarks that she had received from a director during a previous shoot: “On this shoot, the director thought I was too fat.”
