Mario Day: new film, release dates for Paper Mario: The Millennium Door and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, and Nintendo Switch Online games!

Earlier this week, we were treated to some less than interesting announcements from Nintendo concerning THE Mario Day which therefore takes place this Sunday March 10, 2024. We could then think that there would be nothing more on this day when the offices are generally closed, but that did not stop the Japanese giant from broadcasting a video full of announcements surrounding the world of the plumber, the first of which is ultimately not so surprising and will please more than one fan.

While Super Mario Bros. The film (read our review) raked in more than a billion dollars in box office revenue and that The Legend of Zelda will be adapted to it live-actionit is therefore a second feature film Super Mario which has just been made official! The announcement was made by Shigeru Miyamoto himselfstating thatIllumination will once again be at the helm to develop the project in collaboration with Nintendo. Chris Meledandri confirms for his part that Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, as well as the artists ofIllumination Studios Paris are currently working on the storyboard and scenography of the environments of this “suite”, including the animation will start soon. Suffice to say that the green light must have been given a few months ago in response to the excellent results of the first film. And even better, we already have a release date! This Super Mario Bros. The Movie 2 is due on April 3, 2026 in the United States and other countries around the world. We’ll have to wait for the details, but the creator of Mario promises us an even larger world with a joyful and fun story.

In addition to this big announcement, three others appeared at the end of the video. So, Paper Mario: The Millennium Door is now dated May 23, 2024, while Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD will be released on June 27, 2024 on Switch. Yes, the end of the year seems very deserted now in terms of games first party.

Finally, subscribers to Nintendo Switch Online will be able to (re)discover three Game Boy and GB Color games starting March 12: Dr. Mario, Mario Golf and Mario Tennis. You can purchase a three-month subscription via Amazon at the price of €7.99.
