Marion Maréchal de Reconquête deplores “playground” debates with the RN

Marion Maréchal, vice-president of the far-right party Reconquête! of Éric Zemmour, lamented on Tuesday that his training and the RN find themselves “debating in a playground instead of looking at the essential issue” which, according to her, is an alliance for the legislative elections. The former FN deputy, who faces “personal contingencies” (she is six months pregnant), also announced on RTL that she would make “in the coming week” the decision whether or not to run for the legislative elections in Carpentras. Asked about the tense relations between the two parties, she replied that “if we start doing the archeology of hurtful and excessive sound bites during the campaign, we are not going to get out of it”.

“We actually find ourselves debating in a playground instead of looking at the essential issue”, added the one who, with the other vice-presidents of Reconquête!, the ex-LR Guillaume Peltier and the ex- RN Nicolas Bay, proposed Monday a “meeting” with the RN to forge an “agreement” for the legislative elections of June 12 and 19. “What I find problematic in what I have been witnessing for a few days, in particular on the part of the National Rally, is to try to find a pretext for sentences or postures to turn away from the essential issue”, a- she insisted, while the RN refuses this outstretched hand.

“A defeat that is not a close defeat”

“Obviously in a union of different political movements, the terms of this union are made according to the electoral weight of each and that naturally the leader is the one who obtained the most votes in the elections, in this case Marine Le Pen”, admitted Marion Maréchal. RN officials have criticized Éric Zemmour for not recognizing Marine Le Pen as “leader of the opposition”. The former polemicist on Sunday invited the “national bloc” to “unite”, while criticizing the eighth defeat of a Le Pen in the presidential election.

Asked about the expression “brilliant victory” used by Marine Le Pen on Sunday, her niece replied that it “is logical that the men and women politicians who are at the head of political movements try to make defeats look like to victories”. But “it remains despite everything a defeat which is not a tight defeat, it is regrettable, it is a scenario that we had tried to ward off with Éric Zemmour”, she added.
