Marion Maréchal on the war in Ukraine: “it’s a crisis of globalization that is revealed”

Guest of the morning of CNEWS this Wednesday, Marion Maréchal, former deputy of Vaucluse, spoke about the war in Ukraine and the economic sanctions addressed to Russia.

She calls for “being smart” in the search for solutions: “On the American side, the sanctions have been calibrated because there is little dependence on Russian oil or gas. The German or European situation is different. The solutions must not be very hard paid by the French”.

The former regional councilor of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Region maintains that “even before this war began, we were in a structural crisis of supply and demand in terms of energy”.

“No autonomous European power”

Marion Maréchal is surprised by the discussions aimed at facilitating the integration of Ukraine into the European Union: “It does not seem very relevant to me for Ursula Van der Leyen, President of the European Commission, to move forward without a mandate, legitimacy or consultation”. According to her, “it is not a way to hope for de-escalation, but a way to send signals of additional aggressiveness in this war which will not bring Vladimir Putin around the table”.

She underlines “that through the Covid and through this war, it is a crisis of globalization and interdependence that is revealed”. Before specifying his opinion: “We realize that there is no independent European power”.

As a reminder, this Thursday, March 10 marks a new advance of Russian troops in Ukraine, which would be only 15 kilometers from Kiev, the capital.
