Marjorie, 17, killed in May 2021: a teenager sentenced to 8 years in prison


A teenager who murdered Marjorie, 17, who was stabbed in May 2021 in Ivry-sur-Seine (Val-de-Marne) was sentenced in June for murder to eight years in prison, a- we learned Wednesday, August 24 from the Créteil prosecutor’s office, requested by AFP.

The juvenile court also sentenced the teenager, aged 14 at the time of the events and still in detention, to follow educational measures for five years and ordered socio-judicial follow-up for three years.

Stabbed to death

After exchangesvehement“On social networks, in particular on Snapchat, the young man, born in 2006, had stabbed Marjorie in the chest, at the foot of a building in the Pierre-et-Marie-Curie housing estate in Ivry-sur-Seine, who came to explain with him. After a first altercation, he had gone home and on his way back down to go to soccer practice, a second physical and verbal altercation took place, at the end of which he had fatally stabbed Marjorie.

Arrested a few hours later at his mother’s home in Essonne, he quickly recognized the facts. At the time, Marjorie’s older sister told AFP that the teenager “was not a criminal” and “had just come to solve a problem related to (her) little sister. She had come to calm the situation“. Contacted Wednesday by AFP, Marjorie’s family lawyer could not be reached immediately.

It is a sentence not very far (from that required by the) public prosecutor, this sentence was perceived by my client and by his parents as being balanced, as leaving the possibility for my client to reintegrate with a reasonable horizon and taking into account the nature of the facts“, reacted for his part the lawyer of the teenager, Me Adrien Gabeaud, who did not appeal this decision.
