Mark Goddard had end-stage pulmonary fibrosis

“I’m so sorry to announce that my wonderful husband passed away on October 10th,” she wrote. A few days after his 87th birthday on July 24th, the actor was hospitalized with pneumonia. “We were hopeful when he was transferred to a rehabilitation center, but then doctors discovered he had end-stage pulmonary fibrosis for which there is no cure.”

He was able to “die peacefully and with dignity”

His wife went on to say that Goddard received excellent care in a hospice “and was able to die peacefully and with dignity.” She added: “His children and I had the opportunity to express our love and say goodbye.'” She will never know “how I deserved to spend 33 years with such a loving, gentle and handsome man who made me laugh so often.”
