Blink 182 bassist Mark Hoppus has cancer. However, he can rely on the support of Travis Barker and Tom DeLonge.
Blink 182 bassist Mark Hoppus (49) made his cancer public today (June 24th). He has had chemotherapy for five months, like him wrote on social media. During this difficult time he can obviously rely on the support of his band colleague Travis Barker (45) and the former Blink 182 member Tom DeLonge (45).
“Mark is my brother and I love and support him”, Barker told E! News. “I’ll be with him every step of the way on and off the stage and I can’t wait for us to make music together again soon.” The drummer also posted a picture of the two in an Instagram story, where he hugs Hoppus and gives him a kiss on the cheek. He wrote: “I love you Mark.”
“A superman”
Tom DeLonge, who has not been part of the band since 2015, signed up on Twitter and wrote“I’ve also known about Mark’s cancer diagnosis for a while. I’d like to add to the words he said today that he’s a strong and superman who faces this difficult obstacle with an open heart,” said DeLonge.
“I have been undergoing chemotherapy for cancer for three months. I have cancer,” Hoppus wrote in his earlier statement. “It’s awful and I’m scared, and at the same time, I’ve been blessed with incredible doctors, family and friends to get me through. I have months of treatment to go, but I’m trying to stay hopeful and positive. I can barely do it.” expect to be cancer free and to see you all at a concert in the near future. Love you all. “
