In an interview, Mark Keller spoke about his childhood with his grandmother, which he spent in a former prison.

Actor Mark Keller (58) has in an interview with the “Gala” magazine on RTL (5 August, 5:45 p.m.) about the unusual place where he lived as a child. “My grandmother fled from Cologne during the war with her children to Überlingen on Lake Constance,” says the actor, who grew up with his grandmother after the death of his mother, looking back on his family history.

“There was nothing there, then they put her in jail, where she was given a cell with her children. And when the war was over, the city said you could make a small apartment out of this jail.” The TV star, known as Dr. Alexander Kahnweiler can be seen in the ZDF series hit “Der Bergdoktor” was “then practically born, with bars on the windows I always looked out onto the street.”

“Beautiful and Idyllic”

He was always afraid “if there’s a fire, you won’t be able to escape,” Keller continues. But there were also many advantages in his home. In the former prison yard he “sang, whistled and danced and later trained. It was so beautiful and so idyllic,” the actor enthuses. Despite the poor conditions, it was “a little paradise” and “a huge gift” to grow up there.

Keller is not the only guest in “Gala” magazine, his son Aaron (30) is there, revealing whether Keller was a strict father and what it’s like to make music with him and be on stage. Keller has a close relationship with his two sons Aaron and Joshua, and they regularly make TikTok videos together.
