FRANKFURT (Reuters) – Air France-KLM and Lufthansa are interested in buying British airline Flybe, particularly because of its landing slots at Heathrow airports in Britain and Schiphol in the United States. -Bas, reports the Telegraph on Saturday.
Air France-KLM and Lufthansa declined to comment.
According to the British newspaper, the two European airlines are in discussions with the directors of Flybe to buy the company, which ceased operations for the second time in three years last month.
Air France-KLM and Lufthansa are particularly interested in Flybe’s seven take-off and landing slots at Heathrow airport in London and the company’s five slots at Amsterdam-Schiphol airport, indicates the Telegraph.
Parties interested in a Flybe takeover will likely have to acquire the entire company, including taking on much of the bankrupt airline’s liabilities, the newspaper said, citing a source.
If no buyer was found, Flybe’s slots would once again be managed by airport coordinators, says the Telegraph.
