Market: Saint-Gobain wants to extend the mandate of its president by two years


PARIS (Reuters) – Saint-Gobain announced on Friday that it intended to renew the term of the chairman of its board of directors, Pierre-André de Chalendar, but for a limited period of two years, at the request of the person concerned, to prepare for a transition at the head of the building materials group.

If his mandate as director is renewed next June by the shareholders, Pierre-André de Chalendar, aged 63, will retain his functions as chairman until the general meeting of June 2024 at the latest.

“If the Assembly renews its mandate, the Board of Directors intends, as part of the transition with Benoît Bazin, Chief Executive Officer since July 1, 2021, to renew Pierre-André de Chalendar, as Chairman of the Board of Directors. administration of Compagnie de Saint-Gobain,” the group said in a statement.

“It is in this context that Pierre-André de Chalendar indicated to the Board of Directors that he would only exercise his functions as Chairman for a maximum period of two years, i.e. at the latest until the General Meeting of June 2024”, continues Saint-Gobain.

The president’s term is usually for four years.
