Market: without major movements this Wednesday

(CercleFinance.com) – The main European stock markets once again showed no major movements this Wednesday (-0.2% in London, +0.1% in Frankfurt, +0.2% in Paris), awaiting end of the week meeting in the United States.

‘Despite their slight movements since the start of the year, stocks have generally languished within a range since the sessions just before Christmas, and little is pushing them in one direction or the other’, notes Deutsche Bank .

“That could change soon, with the US CPI released tomorrow and then the start of earnings season on Friday, but for today at least, there are few headlines for investors to hold on to.” continues the German bank.

The only data for the morning in Europe, production in France recorded a slight increase in the manufacturing industry (+0.3%) and rebounded in the industry as a whole (+0.5%), in November compared to the previous month.

On the value side, Bayer fell by 2% in Frankfurt, penalized by a downgrading of recommendation at Stifel from ‘buy’ to ‘hold’ with a price target reduced from 68 to 42 euros, the broker thus preferring to ‘stay on the sidelines ‘.

Sainsbury lost 4% in London, after a point of activity for the food distributor for its third financial quarter (16 weeks until January 6), marked by growth of 6.5% in its retail sales excluding fuel.
