Markets: the longest weekend of the year for European stock markets, closed until Tuesday

It is the tradition every year, the financial markets are closed for their longest period during the Easter holidays.

Indeed, on the places managed by Euronext (Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Lisbon, Milan, Dublin, etc.) the stock markets will be closed Friday March 29 and Monday April 1. It has therefore been four days without trading, which is unprecedented in the stock market year.

Euronext is also taking the opportunity to make technical adjustments to its systems and the European stock exchange operator has also announced that it will purge numerous order books on around 200 stocks. For the latter, it will notably adjust the tick step and the number of decimal places. This has no impact on investors’ portfolios but will cancel pending orders. We therefore invite you to take a look at your broker or your bank at the end of the weekend to see if the orders you have pending have been canceled or not.

On the other side of the Atlantic, Wall Street will remain closed for this Thursday, March 29, “Good Friday” for Americans. On the other hand, the American financial centers will indeed be open on Monday April 1st.

The calendar of closures of the main stock exchanges is available here for other dates.
