Ex-Werder coach admits a fake vaccination certificate
Bremen’s ex-trainer Markus Anfang admits the use of a forged vaccination certificate. The Bremen public prosecutor’s office is now aiming to “regulate the offense with a penalty order”. The beginning of the end of November resigned because of investigations against him.
Football coach Markus Anfang has admitted to having cheated with a fake vaccination certificate. “He admitted that he had presented a false vaccination card,” said Bremen Public Prosecutor Frank Passade.
In the course of the affair, the 47-year-old resigned from the second division Werder Bremen in early November. His successor was Ole Werner. “We now have to think about how we can criminalize the proceedings,” said Passade: “The obvious thing would be to regulate the whole thing with a penalty order.” So there will probably not be a trial. The beginning also issued a declaration of the origin of the document, but the public prosecutor’s office does not disclose it.
At the beginning of November, a few hours before the home game against FC Schalke 04 (1: 1), Werder’s coach resigned after he had initially denied the deception when the public prosecutor’s investigations into a forged vaccination certificate against him had become known.
Werder’s sports director Frank Baumann said on the Sport1 show “Doppelpass 2. Bundesliga” at the end of November: “There has been no contact since he said goodbye. I think it is now Markus’ wish to get some rest and deal with things. ” The Bremer Sport managing director also demanded at the time: the beginning must “face the allegations”. If the allegations are correct, “it is very serious and a misconduct on the part of Markus. But I would like to emphasize that the investigation is still ongoing and I therefore do not want to assess the situation.” There would have been a trusting relationship, said Baumann at the time. “Accordingly, we were very surprised by the situation. Of course, we would have liked it differently.”
