Marleix (LR) wants the most complete debate possible

The boss of the LR deputies Olivier Marleix called for the fullest possible debate on the 2023 budget, Tuesday in Les chos, while recalling that his group, in a pivotal position, would vote against this text unveiled on Monday.

We will vote against this budget, we will not abstain because it is unthinkable for us to vote for it given the increase in public spending, said the deputy of Eure-et-Loir.

As for the possible recourse by the government to Article 49.3 of the Constitution, which allows the adoption of a text without a vote except for a motion of censure, Mr. Marleix considered that this is not a problem in itself because it is planned in the Constitution (…) On the other hand, 49.3 will pose a problem for us if it is used to prevent debate.

We therefore ask for two 49.3: the first at the end of the debates on the revenue part, the second at the end of the expenditure part, all to have the most complete budget debate possible and remind the government that it must listen to the National Assembly , said Mr. Marleix.

A pension reform deemed rushed

On the other hand, he excluded the vote of a motion of censure, tabled by the Nupes or the RN for example, because our state of mind is not to associate ourselves with people who speculate on the collapse of the country.

On the pension reform, possibly by an amendment to the draft budget of the Scu, Mr. Marleix castigated the choice of haste, according to him, incomprehensible to the eyes of the French.

We must not, as Emmanuel Macron does, give the impression that we are only carrying out pension reform to reassure the financial markets, he said.

Calling for a search for balance and justice, he recalled that the Republicans had long been pleading to postpone the retirement age to 64 years. According to him, it is necessary to manage to maintain 67 years of age at the start of the full rate.

The question of age is important (…) but it is not the only one, at the risk of giving the impression of having a purely accounting reform, added Mr. Marleix, referring to the question of long careers, arduousness, of the contributory minimum.
