Moderator Marlene Laufen caused a stir with an Instagram video about the consequences of the corona lockdown. In a special broadcast on her house broadcaster Sat.1, she added – and is criticized.

Marlene Lichten's video has been viewed over eleven million times since it was uploaded on January 31st. "I have the feeling that in two or three years we will look back on this time and think we did it wrong," says the 50-year-old worried. "The lockdown was the wrong thing we could have done. At least for such a long time." Lufen argues that the isolation affects children in particular and that they are increasingly victims of domestic violence. Even for people with depression, the lockdown is almost unbearable; in addition, the economic existence of many is threatened.

Marlene Lufen talks about the corona lockdown

Yesterday, Monday evening (February 9th), the moderator continued the discussion in the live talk "Marlene Lufen: Germany in Lockdown". The program was broadcast at prime time on Sat.1. The guests were pediatrician Dr. Karella Easwaran, district student representative Alexander Löher, Charis Krüger, who suffers from depression, and celebrity chef Tim Raue. The choice of interlocutors and the course of the program met with criticism on the social web: too many complaints about the current situation, too few solutions, too few expert opinions, too little differentiation.

Sat.1 viewers are dissatisfied

Other viewers are also annoyed. "Nothing can be more embarrassing this year. You are simply the last to send something like that. Nice to encourage all lateral thinkers", throws a user the sender. A spectator is bothered by the statement "party is missing" and judges: "How embarrassing is the talk with expert #marlenelufen on sat.1?" That also sees this commenter so: "I don't quite understand the concept of the show. Marlene Lufen is sitting there with 4 people who all have the same opinion as her, what should that bring now? What is the added value?"
