Marlene Morreis: “I think diets are stupid, I like to eat for that”

Marlene Morreis is one of the stars of the new “Denmark crime thriller” series. In a lifestyle interview, she talks about beauty, fashion and diets.

Most recently, the Austrian actress Marlene Morreis (44) stood out in the unusual tragic comedy “Long live the Queen” (2020). In the last film by Hannelore Elsner (1942-2019), which Iris Berben (71), Gisela Schneeberger (73), Eva Mattes (66) and Judy Winter (77) completed for them, Morreis played her daughter. Now she can be seen in the pilot of the new series “The Denmark Crime: Rauhnächte” (October 14th, 8:15 pm, the first) as a patrol officer in the picturesque town of Ribe.

In a lifestyle interview with the news agency spot on news, the native Upper Austria, who studied Nordic philology in her adopted home of Munich, tells whether she is a trendsetter when it comes to fashion. The actress also reveals a beauty tip and reveals her worst fashion sin.

What makes a person attractive to you?

Marlene Morreis: Humor, honesty, openness and the knowledge that you can rely on the person.

What is your most important beauty tip?

Morreis: I’ve been wearing sunscreen every day for as long as I can remember. And I drink at least 2.5 liters of water a day. I owe the rest to good genes.

Who is your fashion role model?

Morreis: I’ve learned that I don’t care about other people’s opinions, and I wear whatever I feel like. My style is also broad. Most of all it has to be colorful. Everything happens there. From 1940s vintage clothing to striped dungarees and pink Doc Martens. The way I feel on a day is how I dress. Besides, a lot in our life and in the world is dreary enough that I personally don’t have to wear black too. If I were to name a role model, it would be Katharine Hepburn – as one of the first to wear pants and defy all clichés and expectations, wonderfully non-conforming.

Are you a trendsetter?

Morreis: No. First of all, I don’t go according to fashion, but have a lot of timeless items in my wardrobe and most of the time I don’t even notice what’s in. Sometimes I hit the bull’s eye by chance. Wide cuts are in at the moment, I’ve been wearing them for a few years because they’re much more comfortable. But I often buy exactly the clothes that hang on the sale bar two months later. I’ve thought about what that means many times. Sometimes I happen to be ahead of my time, like with those thick eyebrows that have been painting themselves for some time. I even had it 20 years ago when I had my Audrey Hepburn phase …

What is an absolute fashion no-go for you?

Morreis: When you see that someone is not comfortable with what he or she is wearing. Or just buying something because it is currently in, but is personally zero because it does not fit your body type or personality. And then these short sneaker socks, which you can barely see, they wreak havoc on me. And panty lines.

What was your own worst fashion sin?

Morreis: A couple of black plateau Buffalos in the late 1990s. Do not know in which world they were ever okay. And clothes that are too tight because you want to be thinner than you are. What a shame.

Which do you prefer to wear: high heels or trainers?

Morreis: Sneakers. Always. Without question. Out of competition. High heels look great, but I’ve never conditioned my foot to it, it would have to go to training camp first. I wear them with enthusiasm on the red carpet and at official events. It lasts for about 15 minutes and then my feet hurt …

What’s your styling tip on a bad hair day

Morreis: I felt it every day, that’s why I often wear my hair in hairstyles, braided or pinned up or sometimes with a cap.

Can you cook?

Morreis: Yes, I like to cook almost every day – but according to a recipe. But I also had to train myself painstakingly, I didn’t notice that much from home. My grandma was only able to cook two dishes perfectly, otherwise there were a lot of bag soups and the like and my mom only found joy in cooking later.

Which dish do you never succeed in?

Morreis: I have now finally mastered the yeast dough and often try to bake bread, but this is very often converted into croutons for reasons of taste …

Do you diet? If so, which ones have you already tried?

Morreis: No. So I did a therapeutic fast 15 years ago. That was pretty good. I did the Master Cleanse back then. It was good for the body, but it’s not for losing weight, it’s for cleaning. I think diets are stupid, I like to eat for that. I prefer to do more sport when I don’t fit my pants anymore. There is this slim image that everyone thinks we should conform to it, but I try to counteract it. I also think to myself more often: For the production and the production you lose a little bit, but then I think, nope, what for? The role does not require that and the viewer is also sometimes very good to see a few more rolls on television. There is already too much of a perfect world anyway, not everyone has to have a supposedly ‘perfect appearance’. I also like to sway back and forth in a five-kilo radius. I’ve got used to that.

Which calorie bomb do you treat yourself to sometimes?

Morreis: All of them. Especially apricot dumplings. I’m Austrian and we have so many great desserts. I can eat libugs till I drop. Everything bohemian. The kitchen that came to Austria as a result is probably the only advantage of the fact that Austria incorporated all the countries around it during the KuK monarchy.

What kind of sport do you like to play?

Morreis: For a few years now, yoga, the sporty variant with a lot of fascia work. And then jog every now and then, but by then I have probably already passed my most interested days. Cycling for two years now. My boyfriend rides a racing bike and always wanted me to ride too, but instead I cucumber through the area on my trekking bike, I think 60 km tours like this are great, I also like to look around a lot and now I don’t drive at speed. You also have to stop by and get the economy going.

What is your current favorite app?

Morreis: I try to find apps generally stupid and avoid them. I use it for practical content, reading the newspaper, checking the weather, and yes, the inevitable Instagram. I think Nebenan.de is great, I think sustainability is very important and people often swap and give away.
