Since the establishment of containment on March 17 to remedy the expansion of Covid-19 in France, inequalities between men and women persist in some families, sometimes widening. Indeed, according to a recent survey conducted by the Harris Interactive Institute at the request of Marlène Schiappa, 58% of women consider spending more time than their spouse on household chores. 54% of women devote more than 2 hours a day to household chores, compared to 35% for men. In 56% of families, the mother has organized class sessions at home alone since the schools closed.

Marlène Schiappa's fears during confinement

Secretary of State for Gender Equality, once again highlighting gender differences, fears "silent exhaustion" women who don't "do not live in the same confinement as men", as she revealed in an interview with Point. To avoid the burnout in some homes, Cédric Bruguière's partner calls for vigilance and asks to end it "with the injunctions of the "Instagram confinement", where we broadcast an unattainable ideal of perfect mother, chic and made up in the morning, who cooks elaborate cakes, makes plasticine objects with the children, works from home but still maintains two days ahead of the school program ". The 37-year-old politician assures her, "reality doesn't look like that" for a large majority of families. However, it encourages men "who take on more domestic chores to continue their efforts".
