Married at the first special look Belgium: a disaster of hearings, M6 deprograms the show

The program Married at first sight special Belgium was not unanimous with viewers and M6 decided to deprogram it, as announced in a press release this Wednesday, July 13.

A failed bet. Since September 2016, the show Married at first sight attracts viewers, eager to discover the future of the couples formed. Will their relationship last or will they break up? After the French version, it is the Belgian which made its arrival on M6 on July 4th. The concept is the same: forming couples with unknown singles thanks to a “compatibility rate“However, it did not meet with the hoped-for success and the channel therefore took a radical decision… that of deprogramming it. It is in a press release published this Wednesday, July 13 that details were made. “During the last two Mondays, the average audience share of the program ‘Mariés au premier regard special Belgique’ recorded a 55% discount on the “4 years and +” target compared to the audiences of the previous four weeks in the same programming box“, can we read first. This drop in audience led M6 to modify its programming within the framework provided for in paragraph 3-3 of the memorandum of understanding concerning the transmission of television programs signed between broadcasters, publishers and the SEPM“, is it clarified then.

If the French version of the show Married at first sight met with great success with viewers, this is not the case for the Belgian. As reported by the site Anylatele a few days ago, the first issue attracted only 1.16 million curious visitors, i.e. 8.2% of the public on average. During the final broadcast, this Monday, July 11, the channel signed one of its worst performances of the year since only 778,000 viewers watched the first episode. A low audience figure which therefore prompted M6 to make this decision. As a reminder, it was broadcast immediately following the French version. Could this be the reason for this failure? Would viewers have preferred a few months to pass before embarking on this new adventure? ? A programming which is therefore not a surprise since the fans of the French version did not seem to want to follow the adventures of the couples chosen for this show.

Married at first special sight Belgium: which program will take over?

Faced with this deprogramming and low audiences, M6 decided to use a program that attracts viewers during its broadcast. It is Kitchen nightmare, the program carried by Philippe Etchebest. Last March, when the presidential debate was offered on TF1, the program with the celebrity chef had attracted 3.03 million foodies, which accounted for 15.2% of the entire audience. It is therefore no surprise that from July 18, an episode will be broadcast from 9:10 p.m. For those who wish to see the rest of the adventures of the Belgian version of Married at first sight, see you on the 6Play platform soon.
