Married for 55 years – love story in the home: “Not without my Greti”

“And they lived happily ever after” – but how? We asked Greti (76) and Franz Nader (77) about their secret. A love story from the retirement home.

We are sitting in a friendly room with a balcony in the St. Teresa retirement home in Bad Mühllacken. Two pieces of Linzer cake and two mugs of coffee at the table, photos of the three “boys” and the grandchildren on the wall. her hand on his knee. Franz and his Greti. “We just celebrated our platinum wedding anniversary. 55 years!” Franz knows that exactly – he is not only known as a charmer, but also as a romantic! He always liked to bake cakes for Greti, and he still has flowers delivered to her for her birthday. But that alone is not enough: “You have to be patient and be able to laugh together,” says Franz. “Yes,” says Greti – and her eyes widen when she gives “Fränkie” a kiss: “That was good!” Involuntarily separate rooms “Now I have to look at mine!” says Franz when Greti sleeps in longer in the morning. Actually, she is the early riser, while he still likes to watch TV in the evening. The Naders (involuntarily) have separate rooms. But they can’t last long without each other. “He is the brain, she is the body. What one has forgotten, the other still remembers. They complement each other and treat each other with respect. Simply beautiful!” the nurses melt away. How did Greti and Franz find each other? “You just know each other. It worked,” the former postman shrugs and shows a mischievous grin. “But somehow I liked her.” Somehow!” Greti replies with a laugh.
