"A Lonely Place" co-star of Humphrey Bogart has died
Martha Stewart, who played alongside Humphrey Bogart in "Ein Einsamer Ort" 70 years ago, died at the age of 98.
The American actress Martha Stewart, not to be confused with the 79-year-old American presenter, entrepreneur and television cook of the same name, is dead. The star from films such as "A lonely place", in which Stewart at the side of Humphrey Bogart (1899-1957) died on February 17th at the age of 98, according to her daughter. In a tweet, daughter Colleen Shelley writes: "The original Martha Stewart left us yesterday. She is playing a new role in a movie with all her friends in heaven."
"Martha Ruth Haworth aka Martha Stewart" went "peacefully in the presence of her family and cat." Stewart began her career as a singer and landed her first role in the film "Doll Face" in 1945. In 1947 she appeared together with Henry Fonda (1905-1982) and Joan Crawford (1905-1977) in the drama "Daisy Kenyon" before she appeared in front of the camera with Bogart three years later in the crime thriller "Ein Einsamer Ort". In 1965 she was last seen in an episode of the TV series "My Three Sons".
The number three played an important role in love: Stewart was married three times and had three children with her third husband, David Shelley. Her son David died in 2015 of complications from cancer.
