Martin Brambach: This "crime scene" commissioner has done it to him

The anniversary season of the "Tatort" starts on September 6th. "Tatort" star Martin Brambach explains how the cult thriller has changed.

The time of wishful "crime scene" repetitions is over. On Sunday, September 6th, at 8:15 pm, "Pumps" from Vienna will be the first new "crime scene" after the summer break. But this crime season is not an ordinary one: the cult series is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Over the years, the "crime scene" has changed a lot, knows actor Martin Brambach (52, "barefoot to the neck"), who has been part of the Dresden team since 2016 as chief police officer Peter Michael Schnabel. "The 'crime scene' has become much more diverse and varied," explains the actor in an interview with the news agency spot on news.

"I love the films with Ulrich Tukur"

"Just as our viewing habits have changed, the 'crime scene' has also changed," says Brambach. "From the 'Tatort' Münster to Dortmund and Wiesbaden, but also Vienna and Weimar – films and teams could hardly be more different." But that's exactly what the actors love about the format. Which teams did the 52-year-old particularly like? "I love the films with Ulrich Tukur". But also the Münster "Tatort" and the team from Dortmund are very popular with him. "Also Fabian Hinrichs and Dagmar Manzel. The Berliners have made great films too."

Together with Karin Hanczewski (38) alias Karin Gorniak and Cornelia Gröschel (32) alias Leonie Winkler, Brambach alias Kommissariatsleiter Schnabel will also be on patrol in the anniversary season. "It will be very exciting and a bit scary," reveals the Dresden native about the new cases. "But also a bit humorous at times." Before Brambach slips back into the role of the police chief, the actor is in the TV movie "Eine Almhütte für Zwei" (September 5th, 8:15 pm, the first) at the side of Tom Beck (42) and Annette Frier (46) to see.

This is how the Corona crisis affects the "crime scene"

On March 10th, the shooting started for the eleventh MDR crime scene from Dresden. But as with many other productions, the Corona crisis thwarted the bill. The work on "Rescue So Close" was interrupted and only started again in mid-May under strict safety and hygiene measures. "We were all constantly tested and had strict hygiene rules on the set," confirms Brambach.

It was very exhausting for everyone involved. "So the team had to wear a mask all day and after ten hours of work in a closed room I don't want to swap with our cameraman, the sound or the lighting." He was able to take off the mask at least during the game and during the breaks in his trailer.

Highlight for the anniversary season

For the 50th anniversary there is a program highlight for "Tatort" fans. In late autumn 2020, the specially filmed crossover double episodes "Tatort: In der Familie" will be shown. The broadcast date has not yet been set. "On two consecutive Sundays in late autumn, the Munich and Dortmund teams will investigate together for the first time," said the closing report from mid-July.
