Marvel: A Walking Dead star in one of the MCU’s most intriguing films

Seen recently in “Nope” by Jordan Peele, Steven Yeun, revealed by “The Walking Dead”, joins the Marvel film “Thunderbolts”, in which he should play a key role. But still secret.

Last summer, Steven Yeun starred in Nope, in which he starred opposite Daniel Kaluuya. And Jordan Peele’s film will soon no longer be the only common point of their respective careers, because the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have to be added to it: while his partner had distinguished himself in Black Panther, the American-Korean actor joins in him the cast of Thunderbolts.

Directed by Jake Schreier and expected in our theaters on July 24, 2024, Thunderbolts will be one of the last films of Phase V of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. And not the least intriguing since it will be, to simplify, an equivalent of what Suicide Squad is on the DC side.

Either the gathering of several villains or anti-heroes, sent on secret and dangerous missions to redeem themselves.

From the last San Diego Comic Con, we know the gang will consist of Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), US Agent (Wyatt Russell) and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko ), with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) as the leader.

All under the supervision of Valentina de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), promoted to director of the CIA in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. And while Thaddeus Ross, who became President of the United States (and Red Hulk), will also be there in the guise of Harrison Ford, who replaces the late William Hurt in the role.

Steven Yeun’s has yet to be revealed. But Deadlinewho announces his arrival to the cast, says he will have an important place, not only in Thunderbolts but also in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Will it be the big bad of the story, which could be the overpowered Sentry according to some theories? Of a mutant who would favor the arrival of the X-Men? Or even an emblematic character like Cyclops?

Revealed by The Walking Dead before shining in Burning or Minari, which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor, Steven Yeun continues his rise in Hollywood with a project that could offer him a little more visibility with of the general public.

Also expected in Mickey 17 by Bong Joon-ho, who had directed him in Okja, the actor is however no stranger to the world of superheroes. Because he lends his voice to the main character of Invincible, an animated series adaptation of the comic book of the same name, whose season 2 is expected this year on Prime Video. Possibly around the time he shoots Thunderbolts, as filming is due to begin in June.
