Marvel: have the Fantastic 4 found their director?

After signing the episodes of “WandaVision”, Matt Shakman could stay at Marvel and move from the small to the big screen: the director is said to be in negotiations to direct “The Fantastic 4”.

Is the suspense surrounding The Fantastic 4 coming to an end? In the absence of interpreters, the Marvel heroes now have a date for their arrival in the MCU (November 6, 2024). And maybe a director. Deadline announces that Matt Shakman would be in talks with the studio to take over the position left vacant by Jon Watts.

He said to himself, however, that, satisfied with the experience on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Kevin Feige wanted to call on a director of the caliber of Sam Raimi. And a completely implausible rumor (and also quickly denied) had even spoken of Steven Spielberg. But Marvel finally called on a director from the house, since it is to Matt Shakman that we owe all the episodes of WandaVision.

Television, which is also the favorite playground of the director, to whom we owe a single feature film (Cut Bank, in 2014) against many episodes of series. He has indeed participated in New Girl, Succession, Dr. House, The Good Wife, The Boys or even Game of Thrones (episodes 4 and 5 of season 7), which makes him the second director of the MCU to have passed by Westeros, after Alan Taylor (Thor – The Dark World).

For the moment, the case is not concluded. But Paramount just announced that Matt Shakman is giving up the helm for the next Star Trek due to scheduling conflicts, which seems like a good indication. And as Marvel Studios has planned to shine during D23, on September 10, everything suggests that confirmation will arrive shortly.
